June was a busy month, but a fun one. The main event was a trip to Scotland I went on with my fiancé Jay. We stayed near Edinburgh and had an amazing time, visiting Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland.

We also had a huge heatwave here in the UK, so I spent some of the month trying to hide out from the worst of the hot weather, but it can be a bit impossible in British houses, which were definitely built to keep the heat in!

In terms of stationery, I had two highlights in June: getting to pack my travel stationery/fill out my travel journal, and an exciting new purchase I made, which I’ll get to later in the post. But let’s talk about what I packed for my Scotland trip first:

Travel Stationery

Shortly before going on our trip, I bought the Luddite Random Denim Zipper Case, which I absolutely love – this is my ideal travel pen case! It perfectly fit all the stationery I wanted to take with me, which included:

  • Asvine C80 Green Glitter, inked with Diamine Cool Green
  • TWSBI Eco Transparent Purple, inked with Robert Oster Cosmic Swirl
  • Pentel Energel
  • A pair of scissors
  • A ruler
  • A date stamp.

I also brought my clear TN (which I got off AliExpress) as my travel journal, and my Polaroid Hi-Print which prints out handy self adhesive photos. I just wish I’d also brought a glue stick, as I vastly underestimated how much ephemera I would pick up on my travels, so I had to wait until I got home to stick it all in. So, note to self – always take a glue stick on holiday!

Meeplus Slimpad

And onto my exciting new purchase!

I got into ring planners in a big way last year and have been loving my Filofaxs, and my Moterm Ring Planner. But I will say, they are pretty bulky!

So I’d been eyeing up the more slimline leather ring planners from Plotter and Meeplus for a while, and finally decided to take the plunge. Plotters are pretty much impossible to get here in the UK, and are considerably more expensive anyway, so I decided on a Meeplus Slimpad. I was so excited to see there was a purple leather option!

I bought it in personal size and can’t believe how much smaller and more compact this feels than my other personal size ring planners! I’ll do a full review next week, but spoiler alert: I’m obsessed with this!

Personal Curriculum

June was my second month of doing a personal curriculum, and it wasn’t quite as successful as May. I completed my research projects on oceans, completed my cross stitch project (see below!), worked on a novel idea and read all the books I intended to read, other than Persuasion by Jane Austen. I also never got around to watching another Brandon Sanderson writing lecture, or plotting out my novel idea.

I’m still pretty pleased with how it went though, and I’m just going to roll over the things I didn’t do into July.

I’m doing a less intensive personal curriculum in July, just because I have quite a few things on, and I also want to devote more time to actually writing this month. So my plan is to try and actually read Persuasion, and I’m tying that in with my research project, as I’ll be researching the life of Jane Austen.

In terms of writing, I intend to watch the next Brandon Sanderson lecture, and listen to the audiobook of The Fantasy Fiction Formula by Deborah Chester. I also want to plot out my novel, and start writing it.

In terms of a crafting project, I’ve started a new cross stitch now: I’m stitching the front cover of the My Chemical Romance album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (one of my favourite albums – this pattern is off Etsy).

So how was your June? What has been your stationery favourites of the month?

Thank you for sharing your June favourites. Whilst I know the Plotter/Meeplus paradigm isn’t to my taste, I am obsessed with Plotter as a brand and seeing the innovations they bring out. Those folded paper “project” wrappers are just adorable. I feel that June was a month where I was identifying all kinds of friction in the way I use stationery and technology, and the first few days of July have felt very productive as I’ve been working out solutions. My A6 William Hannah ring-bound notebook with diary pages and lined paper is something I can’t seem to move away from, even whilst I think that I want to be back in a Filofax. I’ve also realised in the past couple of days that I prefer my creative writing notes to be a in a bound book and I’m waiting for my order of Clairefontaine 1951 cloth-bound books to arrive. I’ve gathered approximately six million loose leaves of scribbles and I’m going to enjoy transcribing them into notebooks.

I love the look of those Plotter project wrappers too! It’s a shame I haven’t found anywhere to buy them from easily here in the UK. I may try making my own!
I’m glad you’ve been managing to work out some solutions to your stationery and tech problems. It can be nice to rethink your systems every so often, to make things more effective, or even just to mix things up.
And I really like the classic look of the Clairefontaine cloth bound notebooks. I imagine it’ll be really satisfying once you’ve written up all your notes and have them in the same place!
