My Most Used Pens and inks – May 2024

Since I recently attended my first pen show and also bought my first handmade pen, May 2024 has mostly been about using my new purchases.

One older pen I’ve continued to use is my Platinum #3776, as it continues to be one of my favourite pens in my collection, and is my usual journaling pen. Although I have mixed things up this month by inking it with something other than Diamine Jet Black: it’s now inked with Diamine Oxford Blue. So still not too exciting! Maybe next month I’ll finally put a purple ink in it!

And so, onto my newer pens!

I’ve been loving my Scribe Pens Pastel Green and Purple pen, inked with Faber Castell Violet Blue, which I think is a great match for the purple of this pen. I’ve been finding it a really comfortable pen to use for longer writing sessions, because of its size.

I’ve also enjoyed using my three pen show pens: my TWSBI Eco Caffe Bronze (inked with Diamine Saddle Brown), my Sailor Shikiori Tsukuyo-no-Minamo (inked with Herbin Bleu Calanque – which doesn’t match, but I’m enjoying it anyway!) and my Writech retractable fountain pen (inked with Noodlers Concord Bream).

I’m loving the retractable pen for quick notes, and the pastel purple ink is a perfect match. Lilac is one of my favourite colours, so I’m glad I’m finding such great inks in that colour family at the moment!

The other pen I’ve been using a lot is my Kaweco Sport in Macchiato. As I mentioned in my post about my new Traveler’s Notebook/wallet set up, this pen is being kept in the back of the notebook for use whilst I’m out and about. I have it inked with Faber Castell Olive Green, which is also a mismatching ink that somehow works with the pen!

So how has your May been? What pens and inks have you been using the most?

Apologies for the delayed response, but I wanted to commend you on your beautiful collection and the extensive variety of pens you have. I’m currently experimenting with both new and vintage pens, which I thoroughly enjoy. I’ve just refilled my Platinum 3776 Laurel Green, my first goldie nib, and it reminded me of how fond you are of your violet Platinum 3776. Wishing you a joyful June, Laura. Best regards.

The Platinum 3776 Laurel Green is such a lovely pen! I like my purple 3776 so much I’ve been considering getting a second one, this time with a medium nib, and I have had my eye on the Laurel Green, or perhaps the Chartres Blue.
      Have a great June!
