New Pen Day: Esterbrook Estie Bubblegum Pink

A while ago I bought my first Esterbrook Estie, which was the CoffeeMonsterzCo collaboration pen. I love my original Estie, and it’s super comfortable to write with, but for a steel-nibbed pen, I do feel like the Estie is quite pricey, so I hadn’t planned on buying a second one.

But I love a pink pen, and so when Esterbook released the Bubblegum Pink Estie, I knew my resolve would crumble, and it did. But I’m justifying it that as I have a neutral coloured Estie, I needed a brighter one!

And this pen really is eye-catching! It’s a stunning combination of vibrant hot pink with white and a tiny bit of purple in it, plus a translucence I hadn’t expected. I really liked the companion pen to this too – the Estie Bestie in Sugarplum Purple – but the pink one stood out to me a lot more.

Both Estie Bestie pens come with the same cute packaging and cat-themed accessories: a fuzzy purple pen sleeve and a cat pen charm. These are very cute, but I don’t necessarily think they go well with the Bubblegum Pink pen, and I can’t really see myself ever having the pen charm on the pen. I’ll definitely use the cute little pen sleeve when travelling though, although I think one of my purple pens would go better with it.

In terms of inks, I immediately decided to pair the Bubblegum Estie with the most obnoxiously bright pink I had, which was Diamine Hope Pink. And I love this eye-popping combination! I got the medium nib this time (my other Estie is fine), as I felt like this would be a pen where I’d want to be a lot more experimental with my inks. But right now I’m pretty satisfied with this matchy-matchy pen and ink combination!

I’ve had this pen for a couple of weeks now, and it’s definitely top of my rotation of inked pens. I absolutely did not need another Estie, but I am glad I got this one. And I’m still not doing too badly with my yearly goal of buying less than 10 pens. This is only pen number 3!

So what do you think of the Esterbrook Estie in Bubblegum Pink? Are you an Esterbrook fan?
