One thing that I’ve really wanted to add to my fountain pen collection for a while is a beautiful handmade pen, and so I’d been keeping my eyes peeled online for some good UK based pen makers (I didn’t want to deal with international shipping and customs charges on such an expensive item!). 

Recently I discovered a shop through Instagram called Scribe Pens, that had some absolutely incredible pens available, and so after a bit of browsing to find the perfect one, I bought one through their Etsy shop (although I believe you can also buy them through their Instagram). It was actually so hard to choose a pen, as they had so many great options, but something about this Diamondcast Pastel Green and Purple pen really spoke to me! Perhaps it’s just that lilac is one of my favourite colours, and I loved the unusual combination of it with the light green, and the slight translucence of the pen body. 

It arrived a few weeks ago, and to my delight, it looks even better in real life than it did in the photos. In fact, I’ve struggled to take photos myself that do justice to how pretty this pen is, and that capture the vibrancy of the colours, and the subtle sparkle that it has.  

I was also really impressed with the packaging of this pen, as it was inside the box in an adorable fabric pen pouch! It also came with an ink cartridge, a converter, and even a little bottle of Diamine ink that matches the green of the pen (although I haven’t used it yet, since I’d already decided on my first ink colour for the pen before I even received it!).

I’ve had it inked up with Faber-Castell Violet Blue since I got it, which is a good match for the purple of the pen, and I’ve been finding it so comfortable to write with! It’s quite a large pen, but not too heavy, with a nice indented grip that makes it comfortable to hold for long periods of time. It obviously doesn’t post, but thankfully it’s a large enough pen that it doesn’t matter, and would likely be too top heavy if it did. The writing experience itself is nice and smooth, as the pen is fitted with a fine Bock nib, and so is as I expected. 

I’ve been writing with it non-stop since I got it, and it’s easily become my favourite pen in my entire collection! As much as I love a lot of my brand pens, like my TWSBIs and Lamys, this pen really stands out in my pen box, and it definitely feels like the most ‘me’ of all my pens. 

It’s definitely got me interested in adding more handmade pens to my collection, and I’d definitely buy from Scribe Pens again!
