My Most Used Pens and Inks – February 2024

This month I’ve managed to lower the number of pens I have inked, and have done a lot of cleaning out and storing of some pens I haven’t used in a while. I also made a couple of new purchases though, which subsequently got inked to be tested out, and so I still have 17 pens inked, which is a lot!

I also haven’t been writing quite as much as I’d have liked this month, what with one thing and another, so I think I have fewer regularly used pens this month. The main two I’ve been using have been my newest acquisitions, both inked with Diamine Jet Black, so I could try them out in my journal (which I always write in in black).

My first new purchase was the Majohn A2, a retractable fountain pen that is quite clearly based on the Pilot Vanishing Point. The Pilot Vanishing Point wasn’t a pen that immediately appealed to me, as if I wanted a clicky pen, surely I would just use a ballpoint? But the idea of a retractable fountain pen has been growing on me, so I bought the Majohn A2, to test out and see what I think. I’ll do a proper review soon, but on the whole I really love it! It’s a little tricky to actually get the ink flowing, but once it does it works perfectly, and I find it really comfortable to write with!

My second purchase was probably my most exciting, but nerve wracking yet. This is easily the most expensive pen I’ve ever bought, and if you’d told me at the start of my fountain pen journey I’d pay this much for a pen I’d probably be shocked.

So what is the pen? I bought the Platinum #3776 Nice Lavande with a fine nib. Again, I’ll review it soon, but spoiler alert: I am totally in love with this pen! Which is a relief, since it was expensive! It’s easily my most used pen of February, even though I only got it a couple of weeks ago, because I just want to use it all the time.

In terms of non fountain pens, I recently bought a pack of the Vintage Color Zebra Sarasa pens, and I’ve been using them a lot for making quick notes. I will also review these at some point, but overall I love the array of colours, and they are such smooth, fine writers.

Overall I’m hoping my pens are going to get a lot more use in March, as in an attempt to get back on track with writing I’ve decided to do a bit of a writing challenge throughout the month. I want to attempt to write one short story, poem or piece of micro fiction every day in March. I am moving house this month though, so whether I will end up having time to do this every day, I don’t know, but I’d like to try it!

So what have been your most used pens and ink in February 2024?

My first retractable fountain pen was indeed also addictive, I’m talking about the Platinum Curidas here. But, to continue the Platinum line, the 3776 is indeed a gem as well. My most used pens in February? You can find it on my monthly overview. Compared to you, I have only inked eight pens, with one change per week. The most commonly used is the Sailor Jr. and the TWSBI Eco-T, mainly for sketching. Best regards.

I’d never actually heard of the Platinum Curidas, but I’ve just looked it up, and I love the look of it! And great pen choices! I really like my Sailor Jr and my TWSBI Ecos, although I’ve yet to try a TWSBI Eco-T. I like the triangular grip on the Lamy Safaris though, so I may have to try an Eco-T for my next TWSBI.
