I’ve only been a Hobonichi user for the last couple of years, but both years there has been something, if not multiple things I’ve been really excited about during the August reveals. I’m always excited for the One Piece products, but in 2025 there was also the Spy x Family stuff, and last year there was the Tamagotchi collaboration.
The 2027 reveals have unfortunately felt a bit disappointing to me. The most exciting collaboration in my opinion was the Hello Kitty one which was revealed at the end – so imagine my disappointment to find out that it’s a Japanese exclusive.
I can understand why that might be – I imagine worldwide licensing of Sanrio characters is expensive – but it was the only thing that really appealed to me, other than the One Piece stuff. Which I guess is good for my wallet, at least!
That’s not to say there wasn’t plenty of good stuff revealed, it just either isn’t my aesthetic, or I don’t like it enough to buy it. For example, the Yumi Kitagishi products are, as always, beautiful, but just not really my thing. There is also a swallow patterned drawer pouch and Weeks from the Natal Design collaboration that I like, just not enough to actually buy it. I also like the A6 Lilac ‘Only Is Not Lonely’ cover, but again, probably not enough to buy it.
So what will I be buying?
It’s all One Piece stuff! As always, I’ll be buying the A6 One Piece HON: I’ve been using one of these for the last two years as a daily gratitude journal, and have done really well keeping up with it.
I also really want the One Piece drawer pouch. I’m not sure why they have chosen to use the pattern from two years ago, but that was my favourite one, so I’m not complaining! I don’t think they’ve ever done a One Piece drawer pouch, so this was probably the most exciting thing they revealed this year from my perspective. I may also get the A5 Going Merry cover, even though I absolutely don’t need anymore covers!
With the small amount of stuff I’m buying (I say small amount – it’s still going to be pretty expensive!), I think I’ll buy it from a local store rather than direct from Hobonichi, although it is a shame, as I really like the colour of the free pen this year. But I’m not paying an extra £30 in shipping just for a free pen!
So what did you think of the 2027 Hobonichi line-up? Did anything catch your eye this year, or were you also disappointed?
