4 Fountain Pen Brands I Want To Try

In the year I’ve been in the fountain pen hobby I’ve tried out a lot of pen brands, and have discovered some favourites. But there’s still a few brands I want to try and haven’t yet. So here are the four pen brands at the top of my wishlist:

Benu

At the absolute top of my pen wishlist is several of Benu’s sparkly creations. Their pens really are showstoppers, and I don’t have anything like them in my collection.

The Talisman in Mandrake is the main one I’ve had my eye on, but there’s also a couple of Briolettes I like the look of, and the Skull and Roses pen is quite a statement, and really appeals to my inner goth!

Leonardo

Also high on my list of brands I want to try is Leonardo. They have so many beautiful pens in really eye-catching resins, but the one I’ve particularly had my eye on is the Momento Zero Nuvola in Lilac (with Rose Gold trim).

I was tempted by the blue version of this pen, but when the Lilac came out, I was so glad I waited, because I’d love this pen to be my entrance into this brand.

Esterbrook

Esterbook is another brand that has lots of beautiful resin pens, and I really love the cigar shaped design of the Estie. My problem with Esterbrook is that the colourways that most appeal to me tend to be the limited editions like the Sweet Dreams one, and they are literally double the price of the regular pens. And considering the regular Esties are quite expensive for steel nibbed pens, it does seem quite steep.

I am eager to try one though, so maybe I’ll take the plunge with one of the regular editions at some point if any of them grow on me enough.

Pelikan

Pelikan is a weird one, because their pens are so popular that I’m curious about the brand, but most of them don’t really appeal to me.

However, some of their cheaper models have caught my eye (thankfully, for my wallet!), specifically the M200 Copper Rose Gold and the new M200 Golden Lapis. So I might take the plunge on one of them at some point, so I can see what the brand is all about. But I don’t see myself ending up with a huge collection of Pelikan pens.

So are there any pen brands you’ve yet to try, but are eager to? Or are you a big fan of any of these brands and think I should prioritize them?

I suggest keeping an eye on the secondhand market for the Estie (Virtual Pen Show on IG, Pen Swap on Reddit, Poshmark, Mercari, etc.) There’s a really good chance one or more will show up for a significantly reduced price.

For the Pelikan, keep an eye on Endless Pens. You can get AMAZING deals.
