A Hobonichi Haul and My 2025 Planner Plans

A few weeks ago I posted a stationery haul post that included my first 2025 Hobonichi buys: the Spy x Family A5 cover, the A6 Techo, and last year’s One Piece A6 cover. I grabbed these items from local retailers because I didn’t want to miss out on them, but was waiting to buy the bulk of my 2025 Hobonichi items from the official website on October 1st when the One Piece launch happened (I wanted those Hobonichi exclusive freebies!).

My order arrived at the start of last week, so the shipping was actually quite fast, and luckily I had my trusty parcel inspector on hand to check it out, and admire the pretty pastel blue box (this is Mona, my extremely nosey cat!)!

So here’s the full haul, plus all those lovely freebies!

Have I gone a bit overboard? Maybe! But I have plans for them all, so I’ll go through each of the items I bought, and then explain my 2025 planner plans at the end.

Firstly, is the One Piece Weeks, which isn’t actually mine! This is my fiancé’s, plus his free pen, and I’m actually really excited he wanted this. He isn’t much of a stationery person, but he’s taken more of an interest in the stationery world recently because he’s basically had no choice living with me! Like me he’s a huge One Piece fan, and because he’s started to see ways planners can be useful, he ended up asking me to order this for him.

I really love this fabric design! I have the navy one from last year, and it’s been my faithful companion throughout 2024, and so I’m glad at least one of us got this design for 2025!

I was tempted by this Weeks, but there was another one that really appealed to me too, so I ended up getting the One Piece red fabric design as a HON. The Weeks I got is the understandably popular Yumi Kitagishi wallpaper design, and it’s so cute!

As I said, I then got the One Piece fabric design as an A6 HON, and this may well be my favourite part of my Hobonichi haul.

It’s only available in Japanese so unfortunately I can’t read the One Piece quotes, but I can admire all the manga panels sprinkled throughout! And my absolute favourite thing about this is something I found when flipping through the notes pages:

This cracked me up so much, as it was so unexpected! If you’re not an One Piece fan, you’re probably wondering what the hell this is, but if you are, I’m sure you recognise this iconic panel of Enel.

The HON also came with one of the free notebooks as well as the pen, and I was so happy that I got my favourite of the four designs. I’m officially meant to be on a notebook buying ban, but since this was free, it can’t be helped…

But the one I bought could be helped, so I’m absolutely guilty here! But I love Hobonichi’s notebooks, and this is the first year they’ve offered a ruled version, and so I couldn’t resist!

The lines are unusual, as they’re more like lots of tiny individual lines, but I assume that’s because it’s more geared towards Japanese writing. It’s very exciting though to finally have a lined notebook with Hobonichi’s paper, so I can’t wait to use it, even if it has caused me to slip up early in my Empty Notebook Project. And I’m ashamed to say I don’t have a specific use in mind for it yet, so it is just going to go on the ‘to be used’ stack for now!

Thankfully, I have a plan for the planners I bought though, so here’s what I’ll be using the rest of my Hobonichi haul for when 2025 comes around:

The Spy x Family A5 cover is already in use, and is housing the A5 Stalogy notebook I’m currently using as a journal.

The A6 Techo in the One Piece cover is going to be my main planner for 2025. Last year I used a Weeks as my main planner, but have recently been using a cheap Kinbor daily planner to try out daily planning, and it’s really working for me! So I want to continue that into 2025.

The One Piece A6 HON is going to be used for a flash fiction/writing challenge I want to do in 2025. I plan to try to write one piece of creative writing a day, whether it’s fiction, poetry, or nonfiction, and I thought a daily planner would be useful for that, so I can easily see how many days I actually did it.

The Wallpaper Weeks is going to be my media log. I’m a big reader and also listen to a lot of music and play a lot of video games (plus I watch the odd TV show and some anime). So the Weeks is going to be where I keep track of what I’ve been reading/playing/watching/listening to, throughout the year, and where I can review all the media I consume. I keep a reading journal each year, so I think this’ll be a fun step-up from that.

So are you a Hobonichi fan? Are you a fellow One Piece fan? And what are your 2025 planner plans?

Wow, I haven’t even started thinking about next year yet, haha. Never tried a Hobonichi and only started watching the One Piece series on Netflix (not animated). Not sure it’s my thing yet.

Love your set up and well thought out plan, these notebooks are all so sweet!

Yeah, it’s probably a bit early to be thinking about 2025 really. I didn’t realise until I got into the planner world that everything releases so early!
      Thanks!
