As a pocket notebook fan, it’s quite surprising that Field Notes isn’t a brand I’d ever really explored before. I think in my head when I thought of Field Notes, I always pictured the brown Kraft cover notebooks, and that didn’t really appeal to me.
But recently I’ve been noticing some of the really amazing covers Field Notes have been doing, and so when I started to have a few plans for smaller notebooks, I decided to pick some up.

I’d originally intended to just buy one three pack of notebooks, but choosing which set proved to be way too hard, so I ended up with two packs of three. I got the National Parks Series B pack (which includes the Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree National Park and Mt. Rainier National Park), and the United States of Letterpress Series C pack. All of them have graph paper in them, which isn’t my usual preference, but the lines are light enough that I’m not too bothered.

I really like all of these designs, but I think my favourites might be the blue and pink Letterpress notebooks, and the Mt. Rainier National Park one!

So what am I going to do with this Field Notes haul?
Well, my plan for most of them is to use them for writing slightly longer short stories. I like the idea of dedicating a small notebook to a single story draft, and filling it entirely (because is there anything more satisfying than filling a notebook?). These aren’t very long notebooks, so there’s every chance they won’t be big enough for what I’m planning to write, so I could potentially end up spilling into a second notebook. But since I now have quite a few, that won’t be a big problem!
I have picked out two of the notebooks for more specific purposes though, the first of which is the yellow Letterpress notebook. I’m going to use this little notebook as my gardening notebook, which will be a first for me!

Since moving house in April we have had a garden for the first time, but I know absolutely nothing about gardening, so it’s been a bit of a learning curve. So I’ve decided to use this small, portable notebook to plan out what I want to do with the garden, as well as take research notes on plants I want to grow, and log my progress so far. I feel like the graph paper could actually come in really handy in this notebook for planning out where things will be going!

And the other notebook I’ve picked out is the blue Letterpress notebook, which will be my gaming notebook. I play a lot of life and farming sim games like Stardew Valley, as well as a lot of creature collecting games like Pokemon, so I decided to dedicate a notebook to all the little things I might need to jot down as I play.
I’m currently doing another play through of Stardew Valley (my favourite ever game!), and since this is a game where I usually need to have the Wiki open as I play, I’ve copied out a lot of my frequently looked-up items (like the materials and cost of the buildings) for easy reference. Plus I’ve noted down the items I still need to collect for the Community Centre bundles which I can tick off as I go.

I felt like this notebook was really perfect for this, as the bright pastel blue colour and the cute shop designs definitely gave me Stardew Valley vibes!
The gaming notebook is the only one I’ve started using so far, but I’m already really impressed with the quality, as well as the appearance. So I think I might officially be a Field Notes fan!
So are you also a Field Notes fan? What do you use your pocket notebooks for?
