Prior to buying the Asvine C80, I’d tried two different models of Asvine pen (the P20 and P50) and had been very impressed with the quality and the writing experience for the relatively low price. And I’m glad to report that I’ve had the same experience with the C80 – this is another Asvine pen I’d really recommend!

The Asvine C80 is a large cigar shaped pen, similar in size to the Esterbrook Estie but a little thicker. It comes in a range of different colours and resins, but I chose the Green Glitter variation, which is a dark, cool green colour flecked with green sparkles.
The resin is fairly thin, and the pen feels lighter than you might expect from looking at it, but it doesn’t feel overly flimsy. It is quite a large pen, which might not be to everyone’s taste, but for me it sits comfortably in my hand, with its slightly narrowed grip section. The pen can be posted, but it doesn’t feel overly secure, and I personally think the pen is large enough without the extra length and weight added to the back.

It also has a size 8 nib, which is pretty large: I don’t think I have too many other pens with this size of nib! But as with the size 6 Asvine nibs I’ve used, it’s a reliable, smooth writer, not prone to skipping or hard starts.
Unlike my other Asvine pens, the C80 isn’t a piston-fill pen, but it does come with a converter which is good (I currently have it inked up with Diamine Cool Green, which I think is a great match for this pen!), especially given the overall price of the pen.

The Asvine C80 cost me £28.99 from Amazon, which I personally think is a great price for this pen. It feels solidly made, writes beautifully, and let’s face it: it looks pretty! I’d definitely say if you’ve had your eye on a glittery pen from the likes of Benu or Nahvalur but just don’t have the budget, this is a great option to get a bit of sparkle. I have my eye on some of the other colour variations, and a couple more may find their way into my collection soon!
So what do you think of the Asvine C80? Have you tried Asvine pens before? What did you think?
